A hundred choices at once is paralysing at this age. The book starts with two and opens the next two each time a page is finished — so there is always something to work towards, and never a wall of options.
Everything is saved exactly as they left it, so a half-finished cat is still there tomorrow. The page shelf slowly turns into a gallery of their own colouring.
Later pages have more areas to fill, never finer detail. Every shape on every page is big enough for a small finger. Finish one and you get confetti, a gold star, and Pip — a small teal colour cub who lives in the crayon box.
